Winfred Edward Senier, first of 8 children, was born in Greeley, Colorado, on January 2, 1918, to Bessie (Bryn) Senier and Archibald Senier.
Win met and married Hazel Koch in Greeley, Colorado, in 1937 and in 1938, their son Richard was born. A baker since age 14, Win was offered a position in Cheyenne, Wyoming, so the family moved there in 1941. He was drafted into the army in 1945 and served as a baker in the Aleutian Islands. After the war, Win returned to Cheyenne and continued working as a baker. Hazel also worked and they purchased the Cookie Jar Bakery, located on Snyder Ave., in 1962. They had an extremely successful business providing all types of bakery goods to local citizens and businesses, until they sold the bakery in 1972. Win continued to work for another ten years until an injury forced him into retirement.
Win and Hazel were married for 61 years. After Hazel’s death in 1998, Win continued to live in Cheyenne and joined the Miracle Valley Assembly of God Church in 2010.
After a serious fall, Win moved to Murrieta, CA, to be near his son. It was the first time he had ever flown on an airplane. When the flight attendant announced that a WWII vet was on board a thunderous applause erupted in the cabin.
He resided at Alta Murrieta Assisted Living for the last three years of his life and was visited daily by friends and family. He died on June 2, 2017 at the age of 99.
He is survived by his son, Richard Glen Senier(Genie), one sister, June Adams, four grandchildren, Gary Senier (Patty) , Marla Miller (Jerry), Lisa Senier, and Stephanie Rogers (Charles), six great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.
Win will be buried next to his wife, Hazel, at Beth El Cemetery, Cheyenne, Wyoming, on June 19, in a private ceremony.
Win worked hard his entire life and was a loving, generous, caring man. He loved his family, his animals and taking pictures. He lived each day as it came and was thankful and felt blessed for the full life he was given. He taught us all how to live with grace and humility.
