William P. Whitley, 88, of Cheyenne, died June 30, 2014, at Life Care of Cheyenne.
He was born July 22, 1925 in Arcadia, Louisiana.
He served in the United States Navy in World War II in the South Pacific. He came to Cheyenne in 1947 and went to work at the Frontier Refinery. He retired June 1, 1984 after 37 years of service. He served as president of the O.C.A.W.
William was a member of the VFW 1981, the American Legion Post #6, and the Airport Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife, Harriett J. Whitley; son, Glen of Tennessee; sisters, Fertie Hocheendale of Louisiana, Bette Raley of Arkansas, and Martha Rhodes of Louisiana. Grandsons Billy and Tom from Colorado and several nieces and nephews. Also two-step-daughters, Patty (Will) Tyler form Cheyenne and Karen (Bill) Coe from Pennsylvania. One step-grandson and three step-granddaughters with several step-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents and son, Tom Whitley, sister, Agnes Irvin.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 8 2014 at 3540 Essex Road from 2-4 p.m.
