William Oakley Ragsdale, 99, a longtime resident of Cheyenne, passed away July 27 at the VA Medical Center. Bill was born 16 February 1918 in Village, Arkansas to Joseph William and Ida Vesta (Rogers) Ragsdale. He married Nina Claire Brisbin on 24 October 1943 in Hastings, Michigan; Nina having predeceased him in December 2000. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, first as an airplane mechanic during World War II, and later in the Office of Special Investigations. He then worked in civil service at Ft. Carson, Colorado for sixteen years.
William is survived by three children, William (Nancy) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Paula Jo Meyer (Terry) of Dallas, Texas; and Stephen (Kimberly) of Cheyenne; five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by a granddaughter, Kimberly Durrett in 1990; sister, Connie Beasley Wilson in 2010 and brother, John, in 1960.
Visitation will be Saturday and Monday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Services are 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with Minister Kevin Wilson officiating. Interment to follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
