William (Bill) D. Magness of Cheyenne passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2023. He was born on May 14, 1939 in Bluffton, Arkansas to Reuben (Voy) and Bertha Magness. He and Virginia Morgan were married June 29, 1960 in Reno, Nevada and spent the first 12 years of their marriage in Santa Rosa, California working various jobs. After moving to Cheyenne in 1972 he spent the remainder of his career working for Coastal Chemical Company (WYCON Chemicals when he started and at the time of his retirement El Paso Oil). He loved working on and showing his classic cars, traveling, and camping in the many RV’s they owned over the years, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Virginia L. Magness, son Robert W. (Laura) Magness of Cheyenne and grandsons Christopher J. (Ashley) and Austin D. Magness of Portland, Oregon, daughter Sherry L. (Mike) Sullivan of Cheyenne and granddaughter Mikayla B. Swearingen of Cheyenne and niece Leigh A. Cox of Santa Rosa, California. He is preceded in death by his parents Reuben (Voy) and Bertha Magness and brother James Magness. A private graveside service is to be held at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
