William Gene Humphrey, 85, of Cheyenne, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Davis Hospice Center.
He was born on March 29, 1931 in Burns, Wyoming and had lived in Laramie County most of his life.
Bill was a transport driver and served in the U.S. Army. He loved fishing, camping, gardening his tomatoes and roses, tinkering, going to UW football games and telling stories (most of which were true). Bill loved watching his grandchildren play sports and had great pride in them and his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lou, whom he married on August 24, 1955 in Cheyenne; a son, Roger Humphrey (Kathleen) of Torrington; a daughter, Catherine Humphrey of Cheyenne; six grandchildren, Matthew Humphrey (Shannon), Kelley Nelson (Dustin), Brady Humphrey (Sydney), Annie Humphrey, Spencer Humphrey, and Connor Humphrey; and four great grandchildren, Lucy and Eleanor Humphrey, and Teigyn and Christian Nelson.
Bill was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters, Harvey, Delbert, Kent, Gary, Mary, Dorothy, Leona, Norma, Patricia, Amy; and his parents, Harvey and Ruby Humphrey.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Burns Community Center (134 Main Street).
