Tommy L. Scott, 97, passed away October 24 in Cheyenne. He was born March 17, 1922, in Hume, MO, son of Guy and Viola Scott.
Staff Sergeant Scott served in The Army Air Corps, was a B24 nose gunner when his plane was shot down over France in 1944, where he was saved by the French Underground.
Honorably discharged, he married Margaret Eachus on Nov. 18, 1951. He earned his private pilot’s license, and taught Electronics and Communications at Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne.
Tommy had a long career with Mountain Bell Telephone, supervising the transition from switchboards and rotary phones to microwave transmission throughout the state of Wyoming. He retired in 1983 as District Manager of Network Engineering.
TL possessed a strong and versatile work ethic, the benefits of which he passed along to those around him, with his ability to read and respond appropriately to any situation. He endeared people with his sharp sense of humor and keen wit, while animals of all kinds sought to endear themselves to him.
Tommy always enjoyed learning new things. He delighted in the vast knowledge of the internet, frequently asking kids and grandkids to look up things on their “little machines”.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Margaret, daughter Susan Scott Plamondon, son Steven (Sarah) Scott, and grandchildren Daniel Plamondon, Joseph Shahidi, and Maggie Scott.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Wiederspahn-Radomsky, with family services to be held at a later date.
