Thomas Earl Reid

January 25, 1949 — January 22, 2025

Cheyenne

Thomas (Tom) Earl Reid, born on January 25, 1949, in Youngstown Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on January 22, 2025, just days shy of his 76th birthday.

Tom proudly served his country for 20 years as a member of the United States Air Force, including service during the Vietnam War. Over the course of his military career, he held various roles such as recruiter and military police officer. However, his most cherished position was as a dog handler, a role that brought him immense pride and fulfillment.

Tom went on to enjoy a rewarding career with the State of Wyoming for another 20 years, retiring from his position as Investigator for the Real Estate Commission and Appraiser Board. However, he didn’t “retire” for long as he soon began working as a Marshall for the Federal District Court for several years, then moving on to serve as a Bailiff for the Laramie County District Court. Tom took great pride in all of his roles and enjoyed the many friends he made along the way.

A devoted husband and father, Tom is lovingly remembered by his wife, JoAnn of 22 years and his four children: Bryan (Leanne), Tim, Daniel (Anna), and Allison (Alex). He was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, Natalee, Lillian, Jolie, Grayson and Everly who brought great joy to his life.

Beyond his military service and many careers, Tom was deeply involved in his community. He was a dedicated member of the CFD Concessions committee volunteering for over 20 years. One of his proudest moments was when he made HEEL, in 2013. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching Denver Broncos games, “taking care of the dogs” and spending time with friends and family.

To honor Tom’s wishes, no services are planned at this time.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received since Tom’s passing. He will be missed by many. Our hope is to gather at a later date to celebrate Tom and share stories of this amazing man.

May the memory of Tom Reid bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a testament to a life well-lived.
