Thomas (Tom) Ray Fabian, 97, passed away at Davis Hospice Center on October 16, 2019. Earlier this summer he celebrated 74 years of marriage with his loving wife, Isabel. Tom was born July 17, 1922 in Kemmerer, WY as the ninth of 10 children to Yugoslavian immigrants, George and Julia Fabian. He was raised in the coal mining towns of Cumberland and Superior, graduating from Superior HS. In his early years he excelled in baseball and in his later years, golf.
He married his lifetime soul mate, Isabel Rizzi of Superior, on June 1, 1945 in Tucson, AZ, just a month before entering WWII where he was a B-29 bomber pilot in the Army Air Corps based in Saipan. His proudest moment was dropping supplies to freed POWs in Japan. His moment of fame occurred when he buzzed his B-29 low over Superior to say goodbye to his mom.
Tom remained close to his large family with yearly camping trips to the Hoback in the 40s/50s, fishing and backpacking in the Wind Rivers, golfing around Wyoming, rock hunting in the Red Desert, and family gatherings. In Cheyenne, he loved golfing with friends at the Airport Golf Course. He had a career starting at Cheyenne Light, Fuel & Power, then Westinghouse and GE as a project manager installing turbine generators at power plants around the US. He cheered his two boys in their own baseball, football, and basketball activities and was a much-loved grandfather.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, all his brothers and sisters in the US, a half brother in Slovenia, and by his beloved son, Joe. He is survived by his wife Isabel and son Brent (Susan) Fabian of Cheyenne, daughter-in-law Linda Fabian of Wheatland, grandchildren Matthew (Annie) Fabian of Washington DC, David (Shannon) Fabian of Ft. Collins, Kim (Rick) Amen of Cheyenne, Leah Fabian of Casper, Sara Fabian of Cheyenne, Travis (Blythe) Rollins of Pullman, WA and great grandchildren Isabelle & Grayson Fabian, Jane Fabian, Corey Amen, Heather (Jacob) Salter, Kadin Marcus, Honor Wickert, Samantha Evans, and Kylie Rollins.
