Ted J. Chandler

September 4, 1931 — October 11, 2014

Ted J. Chandler of Cheyenne, WY age 83, passed away peacefully October 11, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Longmont, Colorado September 4, 1931 to Joseph and Edna (Walker) Chandler.
Ted proudly served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1953 and Active Reserves from 1953 to 1957. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
He was passionate about politics and world events, deeply spiritual, faithful to his belief that there is a power higher than ourselves, devoted to family, and often quoted Einstein. One of his favorites was: “If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?” Every life he touched was blessed with his gentle love and wisdom.
He was married first to Colleen Lee on November 28, 1958. He was secondly married to Paula Long on November 27, 1977. Paula passed away November 20, 1986.
Ted is survived by two daughters, Celeste Chandler Holmes, and Lori Bernard, NE; two grandchildren, Chris Lorincz in PA and Sarah Gregg in NE; two great-grandchildren; two brothers Donald and Robert Chandler in CA; two sisters, Ruby Racine in MD, and Kristen Wilson in NM; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.
A graveside memorial service is planned at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Military Funeral Honors, with Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to thank the VA Medical Center, Cheyenne Healthcare Center and Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for the outstanding care they provided Ted.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to the Disabled Veterans Association or the American Cancer Society.
