Sylvia Louise Manville) Warsaw, 83, of Cheyenne, died on June 22, 2014 in Cheyenne.
She was born on April 28, 1931 in New York City, New York. She was raised in Rye, New York where her father ran a bookstore and gift shop. Sylvia’s family later moved to Woodbury, Connecticut.
She attended Northfield Mount Hermon Campus in Massachusetts, and Grinnell College in Iowa. She received a Bachelor’s of Art Degree at Colorado University in Boulder and a Master’s Degree in Education at Denver University. She also attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado and the University of Arizona in Tucson.
Sylvia married Ed Warsaw on December 28, 1963 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
She had been an active soprano in several choirs including St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Capitol Chorale, Christ Church Episcopal of Harwich Port, Cape Cod and the Unitarian Universalist Congregational Choir. National Public Radio’s Saturday opera and other classical music always has given Sylvia much joy. She and Ed were volunteers at Cheyenne’s Botanic Gardens and early supporters of the Greenway in Cheyenne. She has a highly developed environmental ethic and loves animals. She was active in the Democratic Party and Wyoming Peace Initiatives. She traveled abroad with Cheyenne Friendship Force and visited many countries where she practiced her languages.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
