Sylvia A. Patton, was a loving mother, wife, and friend. She left a hole in our hearts suddenly on January 17, 2024 at the young age of 60 (although she would tell you she was around 45) in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Born in the Philippines, but raised in California as the only daughter to Priscilla Amarie and Norman Schwartz. She loved swimming and skateboarding as a teenager when she met her first boyfriend, turned husband who was in the Air Force and had two children. Living an adventurous military spouse life moving to Texas, Australia, England, South Carolina, and Las Vegas to name a few locations. She was passionate about collecting antiques, hosting parties, and decorating the home.
Later, she married her second husband where the military life continued and she had another baby. They moved all over to New Mexico, Virginia, Alaska, and eventually making their way to Wyoming. She always found the Filipino community to continue speaking Tagalog with friends and being the life of the party at events where karaoke and delicious food was a staple.
She became assertive in getting healthy and living her best life by regularly going to the local gym, sometimes doubling up on classes in one day. She enjoyed telling you about her Body Combat, Barre, and Step classes (whether you wanted to hear about it or not) and how many pounds she lost and kept off – she continued to impress us all. Post workouts usually meant Starbucks runs, nights at The Office (extra cucumbers in her water), or snapping photos at the lake with her Audi (preferably in Rams gear).
Sylvia… Mom… will never be replaced, replicated, or reproduced as she was one of a kind. She cared for others deeply and always wanted to be loved and never wanted to hurt others.
She is survived by her husband, David McVay; daughter, Brigitte Patton; son in law, Chris Pemberton; and sons, Richard Patton and Alexander McVay.
Her viewing is scheduled for 9am-1pm on January 27, 2024 and funeral service at 2pm on January 29, 2024 at Wiederspahn-Radomsky, Chapel of the Chimes, 1900 E. 19th St., Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001. She will be laid to rest at Palm Mortuary (date tbd) at 1325 N. Main St., Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.
