Stanley G Kepley

July 17, 1954 — March 21, 2024

Stanley Gene Kepley, 69, of Cheyenne passed suddenly on March 21st, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born on July 17th, 1954, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Georgianna (Waldrip) and Ernest Jr. Kepley. They moved to Cheyenne, WY a few years later where he grew up. He attended East High School and enjoyed tending to the plants at McIntyre’s Garden Center.

After graduation he worked in Yellowstone National Park where he gained his love for the environment. He then went on to Laramie County Community College and graduated with his associates degree.

Stan worked as an engineer/conductor for 42 years on the railroad and worked the Cheyenne to North Platte route. The hours were rough at times, but he loved his job. He retired in March of 2017 and began living it up in retirement.

During retirement he spent a lot of time on his property where he hiked, biked, kayaked, fished, and spent time with his four-legged best friend, Moose. He worked part time at the Civic Center in Cheyenne as an usher. He loved to see the different talent come to town and meet different people. He also made almost monthly trips to see his daughter in Pinedale. Together they enjoyed local recreation and outdoor adventures.

He is survived by his daughter, Taylor Kepley; sister, Susan L. Chambers (Rick); brother, Steven L. Kepley (Dee); nieces and nephews, Tia Clark (Troy), Cara Nett (Jeremy), Sean Chambers (Cara), Josh Kepley; great nieces and nephews, Thayne Nett, Charlotte Chambers, Max Chambers, and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgianna and Ernest Jr. Kepley; and his sister, Sally Kepley.
