Sheila Gehnert, 76, of Cheyenne passed away September 14 at Kindred Healthcare. A Memorial service will be held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel on Saturday at 10am September 26, 2015. Interment for both Sheila and Ruben will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Davis Hospice Center. Cremation has taken place and online condolences can be made at

. Sheila was born November 23, 1938, in Eye, Peterborough, England, where she spent her childhood and early adult years. Sheila met Ruben Gehnert, the love of her life in England, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force stationed at RAF Alconbury. Ruben left England in 1958 to return to the U.S. and later sent for Sheila to join him. On January 10, 1959, they were married in Glendive, Montana. They lived at numerous bases and in 1973, they settled in Cheyenne. Sheila provided in-home childcare and touched the lives of many young children. Sheila was active in the British Isles Club with her many English friends. In 2002, Sheila was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and given a short time to live. Through the grace of God she became a miracle surviving the cancer. Sheila lost the love of her life in January 2015 five days after celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary. Sheila is survived by her children, Barbara (Michael) Protain of Reed Point, Montana, Michael Gehnert, Sandra Webber, and Susan (Paul) Segers all of Cheyenne and Kayla Gehnert of Lusk; eight grandchildren Scott (Brittany) Protain, Adam (Holly) Protain, Christopher Protain, Tiffani (Jeremy) Baca, Emily Gehnert, Lynn Thomas, TJ (Melissa) Thomas and Andrew Glaub; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Hadnam, Eileen (Brian) Hancock, Jean (Vic) Lucking and Sandra (Gerald) Giddings. She is preceded in death by husband Ruben Gehnert, parents Reginald and Phyllis Fitzjohn and Brothers Henry and Maurice Fitzjohn.
