Shannon Scott Nelson
Age 61, of Cheyenne, passed away on October 7, 2022, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Scott was born on May 19, 1961, in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Bob Nelson and Jean Nelson (Lebhart).
When Scott was about 15, the family moved to Rawlins, where he lived until moving back to Cheyenne in 1993. While in Rawlins, he worked for the Wyoming State Penitentiary as a correctional officer. He met and married the love of his life, Nancy. They had been dating for two months when he proposed in the middle of a thunderstorm, they were married September 22, 1990.
After moving to Cheyenne, he worked various jobs for a year, before starting at Laramie County School District #1 as a bus driver, where he worked for 25 years. After retirement, he returned to the school district to work part-time as a transportation assistant. For many years, Scott was a member of the local Harley Owners Group and truly loved riding his Harley. Some of the best times of his life were spent riding, especially in the Black Hills. He truly loved all his HOG family and talked of them frequently. Scott loved his children dearly and enjoyed the camping, going on family vacations and just hanging out with them. The light of his life were his grandchildren. They never failed to bring a smile to his face and a light to his eyes.
Scott is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nancy, 2 daughters, Amber, Stacie (Angelo) and 1 son, Robert (Jenna), 3 granddaughters, Lexie, Myracle, and Olivia, 1 grandson Trenton, 1 sister, Charlene (Michael), 3 brothers, Michael, Terry, and Glenn. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and several “adopted” kids. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Jean Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Nelson, Gene Ashworth, Terry Sellers, Glenn Reinick, Michael Moody, Donnie Masters, John Baker, Eric Keyes, and Dennis Rafferty.
Celebration of Life will be on October 15th, 2022, at 2 pm at the Elks Lodge 100 E 17th Street. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Heart Association
