Sandi Loghry, 75, of Cheyenne died June 29, 2016, at Davis Hospice Center. She was born March 30, 1941, in Yankton, South Dakota at her parent’s home.
She taught 4-H in her younger years and grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota. Sandi was also a lifeguard and loved being a cheerleader in high school. During that time, she was also, unwillingly, dragged into debate club by her English teacher, and it’s no surprise she proceeded to win every event she participated in due to her quick wit and “no holds barred” speaking style.
She attended beauty school after high school graduation and married her high school sweetheart, Bill Jensen, in Rapid City in the 1950s, whom she survived. Avid bridge players—Sandi and Bill would host many bridge parties at their home. They also enjoyed co-owning a high-end furniture store in Cheyenne, WY. The joys of her life were produced with Bill—her two loving children, Steve Jensen and Keylee Swallow.
For her career, Sandi sold real estate since 1976 in Cheyenne. She was an extremely successful agent even while juggling family, home, and friends’ needs. She started with Wallick and Volk, then went to Coldwell Banker, and has been at Kuzma Realty for her remaining years. She helped many not only find their dream home, but also beautifully decorated family and friends’ places.
Later, she married Roy Troyer whom she also survived. Sandi and Roy loved spending time on their boat and with her three much loved step-children, Scott, Marla, and Stephanie (whom she called her own). She also adored her three precious step-grandchildren, Kendra, Maya, and, Roy, and would take special trips to see all of them whenever she could.
Later in life, she married Jerry Loghry, who was such a love in her life. He was a Godsend to her and to this day, Sandi kept every card he gave her by her nightstand. They loved to travel the world and made friends wherever they went.
She also was very proud of and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Sandi went to each of Cassie and Rachel’s cheerleading events, attended Jed’s piano concerts and Will E. and Danielle’s debate events, and always enjoyed being with her great-grandchildren, Liam, Kendra, Maya, and Roy.
Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her best friend and cousin, Cindy (they considered each other sisters), her husband, Jim, and great-aunt and uncle, Mick and Jack. Sandi and Cindy were inseparable; shopping, making beautiful jewelry together, and confiding in each other. Sandi was also devoted to her dear Uncle Danny and Aunt Jean and helping him and his family in any way she could over the years.
A final favorite pastime is the years she spent with her beloved friends—going to Friday night dinners at the Country Club, “struggling” through Pilates, riding the bus to the Cowboy Basketball Games, bringing lunch to friends, hosting happy hours at her beautifully decorated home, going to lovely parties her friends would host, and shopping and more shopping!
Sandi had such a creative and artistic personality—a sharp sense of fashion and design. She was extremely talented at crafting exquisite jewelry, purses, and scarves—never selling pieces, but gifting them to friends, family, or charity. Above all, if you were in Sandi’s company, you were guaranteed to have a wonderful time. She absolutely treasured being around the people she cared for and was always the first to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Sandi is beloved by so many and will be remembered for always going the extra mile for others with her generous spirit.
She is survived by two children, Steve (Michele) Jensen and Keylee (Patrick) Swallow, all of Cheyenne; step-children, Scott Troyer, Marla Lee, and Stephanie Brocker, all of Colorado; five grandchildren, Cassie Swallow, Rachel Swallow, Jed Jensen, Will (Mary) Mosley-Jensen, Danielle (Jess) Jensen-Ryan and a great-grandchild, Liam Jensen.
Sandi was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby, and her parents, Zella and Wilbur Ackermann and her husbands.
Life Commemoration Services will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with Chaplain Dave Stratton officiating.
