Sandra Jean Donovan (nee Jacques), age 75, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 10, 2015. Born and raised in Bangor, Maine, Sandra was a graduate of the University of Maine in Orono. She began her professional life with a federal career in Washington, D.C., where she met her husband of 36 years, Robert Donovan. Their jobs took them around the world, and the couple lived briefly in Guatemala until they both relocated to the Midwest to complete master’s degrees in library science at the University of Wisconsin. Fulfilling her lifelong passion for books, Sandra began work at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne in 1973, where she flourished in her career as a librarian for three decades. Sandra held positions as instructor, library director and dean at LCCC where she was much respected and loved by students and colleagues alike. Sandra served as both board member and president of the Wyoming Library Association and the WYLD Network. Sandra was actively involved in many other organizations including Celebrate Pink, League of Women Voters, LCCC Foundation, Laramie County Library Foundation, and Relay for Life. Sandra is fondly remembered by her friends and family as a fervent reader who relished and celebrated literature every day of her life. Sandra is survived by her brother Robert Jacques and his wife Sally Jacques of Bangor, Maine; her niece Nicole Jacques and great-nephew Kaelan Jacques of Scarborough, Maine; her nephew Ryan Jacques of Hermon, Maine; and a wide and varied group of friends in the Cheyenne area. A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at her residence on Friday, August 14, 2015, from 4pm to 6pm. In lieu of flowers Sandra’s family asks that she be honored with donations to the organizations of which she was a part: LCCC Foundation (1400 E. College Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82007), Laramie County Library Foundation (2200 Pioneer Ave., Cheyenne, WY 82001), and Celebrate Pink (PO Box 2763, Cheyenne, WY 82003).
