Ruth “Sue” Hackler, 78. of Cheyenne, died on August 18, 2023 in Cheyenne.
She was born on October 6, 1944 in Ft. Collins, Colorado and shortly after the family moved to North Platte, NE where eventually she met the love of her life, Joe Hackler. During their 58 year journey they had many adventures including raising their 2 daughters, camping, fishing, hiking, running a farm, and enjoying as much family time as possible. They welcomed 3 granddaughters and many friends to be part of their journey. And of course, there was poker.
Sue had various jobs including waiting tables, caring for the elderly, ironing for the military, selling Avon, and working at the Cheyenne City News. Her love of crafting lead her down a path of sewing, crocheting, knitting, tatting, tying flies, and she even started a quilting club. She made several porcelain dolls she shared with her family and she was part of a bowling league for several years. Sue's gift was hosting others and making sure everyone felt welcomed, loved and fed. Her favorite hobby was playing poker.
She is survived by her husband, Earnest "Joe" Hackler; daughters, Josena Hackler (Brian) and Angie (Kevin) Lebeda, both of Cheyenne; granddaughters, Rylee (Mark) Lake, Brooklyn Lebeda and Madison Lebeda, all of Cheyenne; brother, Marlin (Dina) Trisdale of North Platte, NE; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Vola Trisdale; her brothers, John, Robert, Roy, David, James, Claude Jr, Donald, and Harry; and her sisters, Katherine, Sarah, Nellie, Mary, Polly and Peggy.
Services will be Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel immediately followed by a reception at The Gathering Place.
