Russell L. Bull, Jr., of Casper, Wyoming, passed away April 2, 2024.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Wilkinson) Bull, his parents, Russell L. Bull, Sr. and Jennie M. (Brubaker) Bull. His two sisters, Janet Rathman and Winnie Mosemann. Russell is survived by his brother Lloyd Bull (Marty), and five children, Sharon Bull, Steve Bull (Esther), Mark Bull, Dawn Wiley, and Sheila Johnson, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Russell was born in Lancaster, PA. He joined the U.S. Air Force after high school and served in the Korean War before being shipped back to the states. He was stationed in Denver, Colorado where he met his future wife, Doris Wilkinson, at a square-dancing event. The two married on September 4, 1954, in Pringle, South Dakota, the bride’s hometown.
The couple moved to Victoria, Texas when Russell was transferred to the Foster Air Force Base. Once Russell's four years of service to the Air Force ended, the young couple moved to Lancaster, PA, before settling in Casper, Wyoming in 1957.
Russell joined the barbershop chorus, The Oil City Slickers in 1972, where he sang lead. He loved singing so much that he served as area counselor for the central states district and the Rocky Mountain District (RMD), Division V.P., Executive V.P., and District president for the RMD. He then went on to be an International Board Member. Did we say he loved singing?
Fishing was another favorite hobby. Russell loved to take his kids and later grandkids fishing. He also treasured spending time with friends, acting as tour guide for the out of towners and having coffee with the locals.
Russell’s favorite job was as a customs agent at Casper airport. He had stories of meeting celebrities that were down to earth, like Dolly Parton. And some that were “full of themselves” (we won’t mention any names here).
A celebration of life will be held on April 20th, 2024, at 10:30 am at Restoration Church. 411 S. Walsh Dr., Casper, WY, 82609. Donations can be made to your favorite charity.
