Roy N. Green, a resident of Cheyenne and LaPorte, Colorado Passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne
On Monday, November 18, Just short of his 91st birthday.
Roy was born in Provo, UT, on December 10, 1928, to Florence Ruth Nunn and Weldon George Green. The family moved to Almo, Idaho when Roy was a baby to take care of his Grandpa Jimmie and the Home place after his grandmother died. It was a ten acre farm with a four-room cabin on it. There was no running water and no electricity so it was quite the change from Provo. Dad was the second born of six children. They finally had electricity run to the house in 1940 when he was 12.
Roy attended school in Almo, UT and after graduation, joined the U.S Air Force. While stationed at Warren Air Force Base In Cheyenne, he met his future wife Betty Fieber. They were married on February 13, 1950 in Cheyenne. In 1952, after an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Roy went to work at the Frontier Refinery Company in Cheyenne where he worked for 44 yrs. They had two children, Randall Roy and Leslie Deon (Lancaster).
In the late 1950’s Roy attended Auctioneer school in Montana. He became an excellent auctioneer and auctioned at many venues, including Holmes Auction, at farm sales, storage sales and fundraisers.
He enjoyed riding horses and was involved with the Cassia County Sheriff’s Posse in Burley Idaho and the Cheyenne Saddle Tramps. Camping and Attending family reunions at the City of Rocks in Idaho
Were favorite times.
After a lengthy illness with brain cancer, his beloved wife, Betty passed away in May of 1982 at the age of 50.
He was remarried in August of 1982 to JoAnn Olsen of LaPorte, Colorado. And at the time of his death had been married for 37 Years.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Green of LaPorte, Colorado; his Son,
Randy Green (Tricia) of Cheyenne; his daughter Leslie Lancaster (Dennis) of Smoot, Wyoming; Step-daughter, Janis Bloom (Tracey) of LaPorte Colorado; his brother Dan (Delores) of Burley Idaho and numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Betty; two sisters, Ruth Catmull and LaVora Pouton; and two brothers, Vern Green and Don Green; and a grandson, Matthew Lancaster.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 22 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints E. Lincolnway Bldg.
With Bishop Michael Genho presiding.
Friends and Family may call from 12:00-12:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 prior to the services at the church.
