Rosemary Brooks, 77, of Cheyenne, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, died Friday, June 12, 2015 at her son’s home in Cheyenne.
She was born May 1, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio a daughter of Arthur and Rose Anna Lee (Smith) Leaks, Sr. She attended schools in Cleveland and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Ohio State University where she was the first black woman to graduate with this degree.
She worked as a Computer Programmer for Kaiser Permanente as well as various banks in the Cleveland area. She moved to Cheyenne in September of 2013 to be near her son.
Rosemary attended Sun Valley Community Church in Cheyenne. She liked flowers, reading, and in younger years was in a band with her family called the Saddler 5, she was the vocals.
Survivors include three sons, Jurri Saddler of Cheyenne; Donald Saddler of Cleveland; Steven Saddler of Phenix City, Alabama; two sisters, Naomi Henderson of Cleveland, Ohio; Rebecca Carter of Cleveland, Ohio; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Johnnie Saddler and Walter Brooks; her parents; an infant son, Samuel and three brothers, Arthur Jr., Robert and Jonathan Leaks.
Cremation has taken place.
