Rosalie Ione Barnes, 87, of Cheyenne, died on May 31, 2024 in Cheyenne.
She was born on May 11, 1937 in Casper, Wyoming.
Rosalie was a homemaker for the most part, but she did work at various jobs, including at Jefferson Elementary School (Casper, Wyoming) in the cafeteria as well as being a phone receptionist for the VA in Cheyenne.
Rosalie married Marvin E. Barnes on October 9, 1954, while a senior at Natrona County High School. The couple adopted Roy A. Barnes in August 1967 after a number of miscarriages. She then gave birth to Raymond E. Barnes in December 1968. Rosalie, for much of her life, was an active church member, especially at the former Church of God in Cheyenne. Rosalie loved doing crossword puzzles and watching sports and game shows in the twilight of her life. Rosalie generally kept a cheerful disposition even as dementia was taking a toll on the last years of her life.
She is survived by her two sons, Roy A. Barnes and Raymond E. Barnes, both of Cheyenne. She is also survived by her loyal companion of almost 12 years, Chi Chi, a cat who shares the same May 11 birthday as her.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Marvin E. Barnes, who died on their 46th anniversary of October 9, 2000.
