Lt. Col Robert C. Youngblood (Ret), 89, of Cheyenne, passed away December 3, 2014, at the VA Hospital, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born January 2, 1925, in Rossville, Illinois. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the 5th Amphibious Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II and later in the occupation of Japan. Upon returning home, he was educated on the GI Bill at the University of Illinois, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture and later a Master’s degree in Safety at the University of Missouri. He entered the Air Force as an officer, and served for 33 years in the Strategic Air Command, and retired as a Lt. Col. at the 4th Air Division Headquarters at F.E. Warren AFB. After retirement he obtained a real estate broker’s license and a contractor’s license. Bob purchased numerous rental properties and renovated them, managing them until he was 83. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and served as Associate Grand Guardian of Job’s Daughters for the State of Wyoming.
He was married to his sweetheart and love of his life, Mary Ann, for 43 years, before her passing in 2004. Together they raised three children and moved many times with his career in the Air Force. He is survived by his son, Robert and wife, Peggy, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; daughters, Karen Youngblood and husband, James Peck of Jackson, Wyoming; and Laura Anderson and husband, Karl, of Cheyenne, and six grandchildren, Katelyn, Kyle, Madeleine, Camilla, Ryann and Aria. His family are all very proud of his accomplishments and his service to his country. He was preceded in death by parents and siblings.
Services will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
