Robert James Varra, 85,of Cheyenne, passed away on Saturday December 24, 2016 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Robert was born on September 22, 1931 to Albert and Elizabeth (Gillis) Varra in Boulder, Colorado. He served in the US Navy. After which, he tended bar and helped in his parents’ grocery store. It was there that her met his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Legg. He and his family moved to Wyoming when he began working with the IRS in 1960. He retired here after 44 years of federal service. Robert was a devoted member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and loved his family. He was known to be selfless and generous to those he loved and diligent and hardworking in all his endeavors. He enjoyed leather work, art, and spending time with his family. Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and five children: Jeana(Patrick) Byrne of Cheyenne, Robert (Meg) Varra of Broomfield, Colorado, Angela (Scott) Morson of Cheyenne, Patrick (Rosa) Varra of Cheyenne, and Edward(Alethea) Varra of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Eric Varra, Caitlin Morson, Shane Morson, Allison Varra, and Alexander Varra and six step-grandchildren: Kara Byrne, Brendan Byrne, Andy Carroll, Daniel Carroll, Joseph Murray, and Monica Murray, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Albert Jr. and Alvin, and his sister Mary Ann. Vigil for the deceased will be held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 6PM. Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Mary’s Cathedral Thursday December 29th, at 10:30 AM.
