Robert T. Perala, 85, of Cheyenne, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Kindred Transitional Care.
He was born March 11, 1929 in Negaunee, Michigan a son of Irving and Lempi (Mattson) Perala. Robert attended schools in Michigan graduating from high school. He was an able bodied seaman hauling iron ore on the great lakes prior to joining the U.S. Army. He later attended and received his Bachelor Degree from Michigan Tech University in Houghton, Michigan.
Robert married Bernita R. Tufly on August 15, 1965 in Fruita, Colorado. He worked as a civil engineer for the Federal Government in various locations in Colorado and Wyoming. Robert’s engineering career took them to Montrose, CO then to Rock Springs, Kemmerer, and Casper Wyoming until 1992 when they moved to Sundance and then came to Cheyenne three years ago.
Robert came to the West following his college graduation because he loved the mountains. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing, the enjoyment of which he passed on to his sons.
Survivors include his wife, Bernita of Cheyenne; two sons, Dr. Dan Perala of Cheyenne; Greg (Christine) Perala of Douglas; four grandchildren, Hunter and Karen Perala both of Cheyenne; Jessica and Brooke both of Douglas; a brother, Irving B. Perala of Rockford, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Dohan.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will be Wednesday, January 14th, at 1:00 p.m., at Green Mountain Cemetery in Sundance, Wyoming.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
