Raymond E. Rhoades, 83, of Cheyenne, died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the VA Medical Center.
He was born March 29, 1931 in Wheatland, Wyoming to Clinton and Maude (Kelly) Rhoades. Ray lived in Chugwater, later attending Chadron State College in Nebraska where he received his degree in Physical Education. He served in the U.S. Army and upon discharge moved to Cheyenne where he was employed with the Wyoming Air Guard for 33 years before his retirement in 1986.
He was an avid bowler, liked to fish, hunt and watch sports.
He is survived by a brother, Clifford Rhoades of Cheyenne; three nephews, Clinton and Timothy Rhoades, of Cheyenne; and James Rhoades of Parker, CO; and a niece, Rebecca Kelly of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Casket Bearers will be Dan and Craig Jackson, Keith Miller, Connor Peterson, Brad Churchhill and Rolfe Burgess.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Raymond's name to the Wounded Warrior Project or to St. Jude's Hospital.
