Raymond Daniel Kisicki

Raymond Daniel Kisicki, 91, of Cheyenne, died on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Hospice of Laramie.
He was born on October 19, 1926 in Cheyenne.

He attended St. Mary’s Schools, transferring to Cheyenne High School in 11th grade and graduating in 1944.While in high school he worked after school at Riggs Optical as a lens grinder. After graduation, he began full time work at the Wyoming Highway Department June 1, 1944, as a clerk. When he retired 43 years later on July 1, 1987, he was Assistant Controller. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Chapman College in Economics and Business Administration in 1978. While at WyHy Ray chaired the committee gathered to form the Wyoming State Employees Association.

Ray was involved in founding WyHy Federal Credit Union and was one of five signers of the charter application in December, 1953. He was named treasurer of WyHy in 1954 and served until June, 1981. He also helped form the Wyoming Credit Union League in 1956 and worked for many years promoting and guiding credit unions in his local area and around the state.

He retired from full time employment in 1981 when his wife’s health began to fail. At this time he began a 31 year volunteer career at St. Mary’s Cathedral working in a variety of capacities in the office.

Ray was a 72 year member of the Knights of Columbus, having served as Financial Secretary and Faithful Navigator, among other offices.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral Choir from 1947 until 1992. He also served the Cathedral parish as cantor, hymn leader, and Eucharistic Minister.

Ray enjoyed family vacations; some of his favorite destinations were the Tetons, Sante Fe, and the Pacific Ocean. Family was always important to him and brought him great joy. He was a devoted caregiver to Tootie in the last years of her life. His deep and unshakable faith in and love for God inspired many.

He is survived by three daughters, Jan Young (William) of Saratoga, Jeanne Van Heule (John) of Laramie, and Judy Eddy (Norman) of Baldwin City, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Kisicki (2004); a son, Joseph Kisicki; his parents, Joseph and Veronica Kisicki; and seven brothers and sisters.

Vigil for the Deceased will be Friday, 6:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy will be Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
