Randall Scott Mason, 73, of Cheyenne, passed away at the Cheyenne Veteran Affairs Community Living Center on January 9, 2024, with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on February 26, 1950, in Canton, Ohio to Ronald and Florence Mason.
Randy graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. He then went on to graduate from Wichita State University with a Master of Education degree.
Randy served 27 years as an Air Force officer, retiring as a full Colonel. He had assignments to include serving as a Titan 2 missile launch officer, professor of Aerospace Studies at Ohio State University, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Program Instructor, curriculum developer and instructor, and missile squadron commander in Germany. He had three tours of duty at the Pentagon. He worked on the Air Staff, the Office of Secretary of Defense, and in his final assignment, served as the Chief of Nuclear Arms Control Division for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
After retiring, he worked for the Wyoming Department of Education, overseeing private school licensing and court ordered placements, as personnel director, and payroll supervisor. He was also the education consultant for the Senate Youth Program.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 50 years, Bonnie, his son, Geoffrey, his daughter Holly (husband Paul), grandchildren Cameron (wife Allyson), Morgan, Aric, Benjamin and Bryce, one great granddaughter, Madelyn, and three sisters. Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, in the VA Chapel.
