Ramona Hernandez

December 9, 1928 — May 3, 2014

Ramona Hernandez, 85, was reunited with her soul mate, Ponce, on Saturday, May 3rd.

She was born December 9, 1928 to Federico and Uvalda (Sanchez) Berg in Buena Vista, New Mexico. She was the third of twelve children. Ramona’s love was evident to family and friends she spent time with throughout her life. She always had the last “I love you”.
Ramona was always ready to help. Her kindness and acts of compassion will forever be remembered by all who knew her. Our mother, grandmother, sister and friend will be missed. We will cherish her in our hearts forever. Ramona enjoyed her work retirement since 1985, traveling and going to Blackhawk. She was actively involved with St. Joseph’s Choir, St. Joseph’s kitchen crew and the Polka Club for many years.

Ramona is survived by her brothers, George (Anna) Berg, Fred Berg, Willie (Naomi) Berg, Robert Berg and Henry Berg; sisters, May (Pete) Montoya, Minnie Caravajal, Mary (John) Vigil, Crescelda Miller, Elinor (John) Trujillo and Joann (Barry) Vollmert. Her children, Al (Pauli) Duran, Eli (Diana) Duran and Elberta Mondragon; six grandchildren, Deanna Vetter, Rachel Martinez, Lea Mata, Robin Bahr, Anthony Padilla and Glenda Hajek; 12 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jordyn, Elijah, Nikko, Marcus, Max, Anthony, Andrew, Taran, Joaquin, Brittany and Phylicia and three great great-grandchildren, Chrystian, Mia and Rileigh Rae; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, her foster parents, Miguel and Regina Maldonado and her brother, Gilbert Sanchez.

Cremation will take place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
