Ramon Felipe Valdez, 92, of Cheyenne, passed away May 28 at home with loved ones.
He was born July 7, 1926, in Las Aguitas N.M. to Elena Mares and Facundo Valdez. He married Florida Sisneros on Oct. 2, 1948 and moved to Cheyenne in 1953.
Ramon worked at Laramie County School District #1 in various positions and retired in 1991 as a heavy equipment operator. He also worked at the Water Department, and as a barber.
Ramon was outgoing and any stranger he met wasn’t one for long. He enjoyed his grandchildren’s sport activities, playing guitar and harmonica, tinkering in the garage and gambling trips with Flo.
Ramon is survived by his wife of 70 years, Florida; sister, Tonita Bustos; children, Theresa Wright (Darwin), Dolores Backensto (John), Dora, Darlene Gallegos (Dale), Lori, Steve; grandchildren, Rudy Apodaca, Mike Apodaca (Melissa), Stacia Backensto (Tim), Hogan and Brion Null, Lisa Gallegos, Jenna Sargent (Brennan), Dante Pasionek; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Austin, Ryan, Andre, Janessa, Taylor, Andraya, Davion, Arianna, Aspen; great-great-grandchildren, Devonte, Deacon. His parents, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral liturgy Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with internment to follow at Olivet Cemetery.
