Polly Poteet, 79, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015, in Cheyenne.
She was born on September 21, 1935 in Burns, Wyoming to Walter A. and Belle E. McDowell, early day homesteaders in eastern Laramie County. Polly attended schools in Carpenter and Burns, graduating from Burns High School in 1953. She attended the University of Wyoming for one year.
On April 11, 1954, Polly married Travis Poteet, moving to Cheyenne in 1956. Polly worked for the LCSD #1 for 27 years, retiring in 1995. She was a Past Matron of Burns Chapter #46 O.E.S., Past Guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel #42 in Cheyenne, a Brownie/Girl Scout leader, and volunteered for UMC West Home Away From Home.
Polly is survived by a daughter, Robin Petty of Kaycee; a son Milt Poteet (Robin) of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; one sister; and one grandson.
Services will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
