Phillip S. Tafoya, 78, of Cheyenne, passed at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 1, 1944 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Joe and Oralia Tafoya (Ortega).
Phillip worked several jobs throughout his career and was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad. He served in the Army and Navy was a Vietnam Veteran and was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 1881. His many interests included painting, playing guitar, harmonica, melodica and pan flute. Not only did he enjoy making music, he enjoyed listening to it as well, from blues to jazz, soul to rancheras. He enjoyed spending time in his yard, always finding something to do. He kept busy reading, taking walks around the neighborhood, and riding his bicycle. Phillip was an outgoing person and never met a stranger. He was kind but liked to tease and was willing to share a joke.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Christina Tafoya, Iliana (David) Robertson, Oralia Neemann and Felipe Tafoya; siblings, Jesse (Maryann) Tafoya, Joann Benavidez, Linda Arnaut, Lee Tafoya, Paul (Corina) Tafoya, Janet Rivera, Joe Tafoya, Steve (Debra Gomez) Tafoya; sisters-in-law, Helen Martinez, Patricia (Robert Ortiz) Perez, Jessica Perez; grandchildren, Dylan Tafoya, Alexandra Tafoya and Amanda Dominguez; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, Imelda Tafoya; father and mother-in-law, Jesse and Julia Perez; son, Dominic Tafoya; son-in-law Tal Neemann; brother-in-law, Richard Arnaut; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Mark Haight, niece Andrea Martinez and numerous aunts and uncles.
A Catholic Mass will be at 10:30 am with a eulogy reading at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel on Tuesday November 1, 2022, followed by light refreshments 1:00-3:00pm at the American Legion Post 6, 2001 E. Lincolnway Ave. Cheyenne, WY.
