Pauline Marie Russell 91 of Cheyenne passed away peacefully on October 21. Pat was born to Oma and Paul May on January 14, 1928, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. Pat moved to Lane, South Dakota when she was in second grade and finished her education there. Pat met James R. Russell prior to him enlisting in the Army. A short 21 days after his return from WWII, they were married. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on August 31, 2015.
Pat and Jim started their life farming then later working for Greyhound Lines in Sioux City, Iowa and transferred with Greyhound Lines to Cheyenne in 1960. They moved back to Nebraska in 1968 where Pat was able to enjoy her gardening experiences. Pat and her father maintained numerous gardens during her childhood.
Pat and Jim moved back to Cheyenne in 1975 where Pat joined her husband working at Greyhound Lines. Later, Pat and Jim started JR & W Travel Agency where they enjoyed their time together traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada with AARP friends. Pat also opened her home to care for numerous foster children. She was also a care giver for the elderly. She spent her life providing care for others.
Pat loved camping and fishing with her family. Her hobbies included cross stitching and quilting. She made numerous dolls for children at Christmas. One of her favorite pastimes was playing the piano and organ.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jim, sister Mary Jo, brother Marv, and her parents Oma and Paul. She is survived by her brother Doug and her sister Barbie, her daughter Connie (Gary) Telander; and two sons, Dennis (Debra) and Bob (LeAnn) Russell. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
