Patricia A. (Ryan) Gillispie, 87, from Cheyenne, WY, passed away December 24th, 2018 at Davis Hospice Center.
Pat was born on the “Home Place” near Gem, Thomas County, KS, on June 22, 1931 to Michael A. and Z.M. “Peggy” Ryan.
She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Home Economics.
She married Melvin H. Gillispie at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, KS on April 22, 1957. They made their home in Fort Collins, CO while Mel finished college. In 1966, the family moved to Cheyenne, WY.
Over her career, Pat was a teacher, a caseworker for Catholic Social Services, and a teen-parent consultant with LCSD#1. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and won many ribbons at the Laramie County Fair. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Mary’s Guild, and Laramie County Homemakers.
Pat is survived by three children, Robin (Scott) Haynes, Cheyenne; Bryan Gillispie, Cheyenne; and Patricia (Rob) Johnson, Memphis, TN. She is also survived by grandsons Shawn (Dionne) Haynes, Lincoln, ND and Robert Stice (Meredith Hatsell) Memphis, TN; step grandson Ryan (Sarah) Haynes, Cheyenne and great grandchildren Raleigh and Venna Haynes, and step great grandchildren, Nash Coleman and Elise Haynes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mel, and her brother, Bob.
Vigil for the deceased will be at 3 p.m., Friday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Internment at Olivet Cemetery. Reception to follow at The Gathering Place at 1900 East 21th Street, owned by Wiederpsahn-Radomsky Chapel.
