Pamela Jane Harbin

July 13, 1951 — March 23, 2025

Cheyenne

On Sunday, March 23, 2025, our beloved Pamela Jane Harbin took her last breath here on earth and passed peacefully into the arms of the Savior she loved and lived for. God entrusted her with many roles — beloved wife, Mom, “Mimi”, Sister, Aunt, Friend. The lives she touched and affected for good can be found quite literally all around the planet. Pam was born in Kearney, NE on July 13th, 1951, to her loving parents, Don and Gladys Swan. Most of her childhood was spent in Burkburnett, TX where she sang in the Madrigals choral group, and was a cheerleader throughout high school.

Pam was very intelligent and highly educated, earning her Bachelor of Science degree from David Lipscomb College in 1974 and completing a post graduate course in Hospital Dietetics the following year. She earned her Master of Science in Dietetics from Massachusetts General Hospital in 1985. She worked as a dietician her whole adult life, and in her final working years made a great impact as a director of the WIC program in New York City. She loved working with women and children, helping them to thrive in dire situations. She even chose to volunteer at the WIC office in Cheyenne, after she and Dwight retired and moved here in 2021. However, they appreciated her so much they asked to hire her. She finally decided to “retire” (again) and worked her last day there the week she passed.

Pam met the love of her life, Dwight Harbin in 1990. Their love story is one for the ages, a second chance for both. Their marriage epitomized the idea of a Godly union, and they were to celebrate 35 years of wedded joy this coming October. The moment she became Dwight’s wife, she also became “Mom” to David and Elizabeth. She truly loved and lived for them as her own. Then came what might have been her favorite role - as “Mimi,” first to Catherine, and later to Grace and Caleb. She loved her grandchildren fiercely, never missing an opportunity to put them to bed, feed them her yummy and nutritious meals, read books with them, bake cookies, and so many other things. Her sacrificial nature, love, and gentle spirit will live on in their hearts and will be her greatest legacy.

Pam embodied the role of servant leader in her church, leading many to Christ, and shepherding many more in their daily walks with Jesus. The ways she served the Kingdom of God are too many to count, but here are just a few - Children’s Ministry, Women’s ministry, Worship team (she was a beautiful alto), Hope Scouts, Hope WorldWide volunteer, marriage counseling; anything that was asked of her she would do with the purest of intentions and desire to be of service to God and others. Brothers and sisters in Christ from all over the world mourn her passing; she is remembered fondly from her time in Kansas, Boston, India, Chicago, Staten Island, and Cheyenne. In recent years, Pam and Dwight chose not to rest on their retirement laurels, but instead to serve tirelessly, both locally and abroad. They went on volunteer trips to Nepal and Bolivia and left a tender mark on all they met and served in those places. On her last earthly day, she was found feeding the poor with fellow Christians here in Cheyenne, as well as sewing pillows for the hospital. Dwight lovingly called her his “little Sherman Tank” who could not be slowed down, and that she was. Little only in stature, her heart and energy for the Lord were big and bottomless. We are all better for knowing her and being loved by her.

Pam is survived and will be terribly missed by her loving husband, Dwight, of Cheyenne, WY; their children, David Harbin (Annie) of Thornton, CO, and Elizabeth Croft (Uzi) of Staten Island, NY; beloved grandchildren, Catherine Croft, Grace and Caleb Harbin; sisters, Diana Bateman (Alan) of Dartmouth, MA, and Paula Flynn (Dennis) of Belmont Bay, VA; sister-in-law, Dianna Wilson of Longmont, CO, Denise Lewis (Randy) of Scottsville, KY; and brother-in-law, Mark Harbin of Bowling Green, KY, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Services will be held at Wiederspahn- Radomsky Chapel of Chimes, 1900 E. 19th St., Cheyenne, WY on Friday, April 4 at 2: 00p.m, with a reception to follow.

The hole that is left by Pam’s passing is wide and deep and can only be filled by the love and comfort of Jesus. She would want us to cling to Him in our grief and look forward with joy to reuniting with her in glory one day.
