Nellie Madeline Brain, 96, of Cheyenne, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Life Care Center.
She was born March 31, 1922 in Borden Shaft, Maryland, a daughter to Benjamin and Elsie (Brain) Ritchie. Madeline received her schooling in Maryland and later met her soon to be husband, Leonard Brain and moved to Cheyenne and was married on April 2, 1947.
Madeline was a member of Destiny Church and served as secretary-treasurer of the Woman's Ministries for 22 years. She also taught an Adult Sunday School class for 23 years. Her hobbies included sewing and knitting but most especially baking.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Leland E. (Linda) Brain of Cheyenne; three grandchildren, Russell Brain of Waipahu, Hawaii; Lynette Brain of Cheyenne; Michelle Brain of Aberdeen, Maryland; three great-grandchildren, Emeley and Andrew Brain of Aurora, Colorado; Taylor Martinovich of Aberdeen, Maryland; a brother, Samuel Ritchie of Waterford, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard on May 3, 2008; her parents; a brother, Stanley Ritchie; and two sisters, Phyllis DeHaven and Jane Kamauf.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Destiny Church. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
