Neil Paul Kissell, 68, of Cheyenne, passed away November 2, 2021, at his home.
He was born September 28, 1953, in Fort Collins, CO, to John Wesley and Rayma (Christensen) Kissell.
He grew up in Cheyenne, graduating from Central High School in 1972. Early in life, he worked in the family business, Shyann Meat Packing Company. He then chose a career and retired from the BNSF Railroad after 30+ years, where he was fondly known as “Whistle.”
Neil was one of the kindest, most generous and compassionate people one could ever meet. He cherished time with his family, and he loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. His favorite place to catch fish was… in the upper lip! He enjoyed his critters, vehicles, and open land where he felt free. As he would say, “Here we go!”
Survivors include his wife, Laura; daughter, Tara (Wes) Raymond; chosen daughter, Corinna (Greg) Schueler; grandsons, Dylan and Owen Raymond; nephew, Jace Horton; nieces, Kara Piscitella, Chrisanne (Kevin) Sprague, and Charlyne Horton; his lifelong best friend, Robert (Tina) Hannig; and countless extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janis Klosterman; brother, Larry Kissell; grandson, Noah Raymond; and companion, Brenda Morales.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 13, at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge #660. For specific details please visit
