Milton G. Mansfield

Milton George Mansfield passed on December 12th, 2024 at the age of 80 years old in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Milton was born on September 16, 1944 to George and Gladys Mansfield in Upstate New York. He was the first born of five boys and grew up in the Hannibal, New York area. For the past few years Milton lived in an assisted living facility near his son and family in Wyoming.


After graduating in 1962 from Hannibal High School, Milton eventually landed in Florida where he worked a variety of jobs including breaking in horses, prison guard at Florida State Prison, opening up a small appliance repair shop in Gainesville, Florida in the mid-late 70s, running paper routes for decades and at times being a district manager. When he moved back to New York for a while (1980-1986) he also drove school buses and ran paper routes and worked on business ventures with his mother Gladys Mansfield. In short, Milton enjoyed trying his hand at many careers but the newspaper industry was his favorite. He was a long-time member of The Pentecostals of Gainesville church. As a four time survivor of cancer, and after retiring, Milton spent many hours giving back to the cancer community. He did cancer walks and he was a compassionate cancer care volunteer at the UF Health Davis Center in Gainesville, Florida. As a volunteer there he enjoyed getting to know people, hearing their stories, and most importantly encouraging them through the Word of God.


He is survived by his three children from his first marriage: Shawna Mansfield in Gainesville, Florida; Matthew Mansfield (Michelle) in Carpenter, Wyoming; and Melinda Martin (Richard) in Sevierville, Tennessee. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his brothers Stephen Mansfield and Carl Mansfield.


Milton George Mansfield was preceded in death by his parents George McNutt Mansfield and Gladys Melissa (Shepard) Mansfield, his brother Millard C. Mansfield, his brother Roger F. Mansfield, and his wife Wilma Mansfield.


Milton will be interred with his parents in Fairdale Rural Cemetery in Hannibal, New York.
