Mildred L. “Mitty” Nation, 90, of Cheyenne, died Sunday, November 2, 2014. Born July 5, 1924 in Postville, Iowa, Mitty lived in Cheyenne since 1950. Mitty was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her career as a Registered Nurse spanned forty years in all facets of the profession, ranging from private practice to her many years at the VA Medical Center, from which she retired in 1989. She was a volunteer for the Wyoming State Museum. Mitty is survived by her son, Matthew Nation of Gilbert, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Grace Nation of Gig Harbor, Washington; four grandchildren, Stacy (Ross) Knapper; Matthew M. (Jennifer) Nation, Laura Nation, and Megan Nation; two great-grandchildren, Shin and Tae Knapper and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Nation; son, David Nation; parents, Albert and Cora Thoresen; a brother and four sisters. Life Commemoration Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pastor Ron Powers officiating. Cremation has taken place and private family interment will be at Beth El Cemetery. Donations to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice are welcome.
