Mildred M. Leslie, 100, of Cheyenne passed away April 19th at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. She was born March 26, 1918 in Humeston, Iowa to Hobert and Lula Baker.
After earning her R.N. from the Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing she became the college nurse at what is now the University of Northern Colorado. She served as an Army Nurse in England during WWII and moved to Cheyenne after earning a B.S.N. from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Mildred worked at all three hospitals in Cheyenne: the V.A., DePaul, and Memorial. She taught nursing at the University of Wyoming and finished her career in 1983 as a supervisor in the OB/GYN and nursery departments at Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and playing board games with family and fellow Pointe Frontier residents.
Survivors include daughters, Margaret (David) Geist of Ault, CO and Phyllis (Paul) Carlson of Cheyenne; son Patrick Leslie of Owensville, MO; grandsons Bailey (Candice) Geist and Baker Geist; granddaughter Gretchen Carlson; great-grandsons Beckett and Graham Geist; great granddaughter Camden Geist; sister-in-law Kitty Baker; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip, in 1970 and her son, Albert, in 1973.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church on May 8th at 10AM. Burial will follow in Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, the Davis Hospice Center, or a charity of your choice. Online condolences can be sent to
