Michael R Stotts

November 25, 1961 — July 3, 2024

Michael Stotts passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 3rd 2024 in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the age of 62.
Mike is survived by; his mother, Joyln Stotts; wife, Karen Stotts; children, Annie Haivala, Sam Haivala, Ashley Osterman, and Erin Schill; grandchildren Kailer, Isabella, Noah, Jaxson, Paisley, Lennox, and Zhuri; and brother Mark Stotts. He is preceded in death by his father Ross Stotts.
Mike was born on November 25, 1961 in Canyon Texas to Jim Ross Stotts and Joyln Stotts. He went to college at the University of Nebraska on a baseball scholarship and later transferred to the University of Wyoming and graduated in 1985 with a degree in business. He met the love of his life, Karen in 1987 and they married in 1989, and together they raised four children. While in Lander he started his own business; Lawn Maid, later starting his career in banking where he worked in the community of Lander for 22 years. After moving to Cheyenne in 2008, Mike started a business in property management which he grew quickly over the span of 16 years into big success.
His wife, children, and grandchildren remember him as a relentless supporter of his loved ones, who encouraged them to pursue their goals. You could always find him in the stands cheering them on, running errands for his loved ones, or other various tasks to care for his family, you name it, and he was there. He was a dedicated family man who loved them more than anything in the world, and it showed. Mike was known for his wit and his perfectly timed “Dad Jokes”, always making people laugh with his dry sense of humor.
Mike was passionate about the outdoors, and would often be found camping, fishing, canoeing and searching for rocks he could polish in his rock polisher. He was also a huge sports fan and frequented games/competitions both professional and of his grandchildren. He and his wife traveled extensively together and enjoyed seeing the world with each other. Mike (not) so secretly loved all his grand dogs, and you could catch him napping with them on his lap often. He was a coach for many of his kids sports, including girls softball, Little League baseball, Babe Ruth baseball, and Legion baseball. He was a member of Leader Corp, the town Recreation Board, and Business Association, Cheyenne Frontier Days Volunteer, and played Old Timers Baseball.
Mike’s family will be forever grateful that their lives were blessed with the most sincere, dedicated, and hilarious man. He is an incredibly cherished part of every aspect of his family’s lives and his presence will be eternally missed.
A memorial for Mike was held on July 14th, officiated by Dave Engel. The family would like to thank everybody for their support during this extremely difficult time.
