Merlyn L. Aune, 85, of Cheyenne, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the VA Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota to Arthur and Mabel (Moen) Aune. Merlyn was raised on a farm. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended school in Parshall, ND. He served in the US Air Force where he was stationed in Korea.
Merlyn was a crane operator, and made Cheyenne his home. He enjoyed Frontier Days, holding season tickets every year, even when unable to attend the events.
He was a life member of the Elks Lodge, and a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He rode his horse in the Cheyenne Sheriff’s Posse.
Survivors include his sister Dolores Woessner of Meriden, CT; niece Deb Lyman of Meriden; nephews, Dennis (Sherrill) Woessner of Colchester, CT; Douglas Woessner of Anchorage, AL; grandnephew Remington Lyman of Columbus, Ohio; an aunt and many cousins; and dear friends Eric and Mary.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Melton.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
