Max R. Kelley, 95, of Cheyenne died on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Cheyenne.
He was born on November 4, 1919 near McCook, Nebraska to O.T. “Bob” and Ethel (Smith) Kelley.
Max married Hortense “Tess” Nelms on September 7, 1940 in McCook.
In 1941, Max was hired by the UPRR where he worked as a Brakeman and Conductor for 39 years. His career at the UPRR was interrupted by WWII when he was called to service in the U.S. Navy as a signalman in the South Pacific.
Max and Tess created M.R. Trailer sales, an R.V. dealership, in 1960. They received great joy from working and playing with their R.V. customers and were charter members of the Cheyenne Jackalopes Camping Club.
Max was a lifetime member of UTU Local 446, lifetime member of American Legion Post 6, Master Mason-Cheyenne Lodge #1, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, and Shriner Noble belonging to the Korein Temple.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Kelley of Scottsdale, Arizona and Gary Kelley of Cheyenne; daughter, Ann Bowen of Thayne, Wyoming; friend Della Muehler; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tess; infant daughter Linda Kay Kelley; brothers, O.R. “Bud” and Bobby Kelley; and a sister, Opal McKillip.
Timeless Memories services will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
