Maurice “Morrie” Arthur Harris, 95, passed away on October 24, 2018 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. He was born October 13, 1923 to Arthur and Bessie Briggs Harris of Fort Collins, Colorado. After graduating from Encampment High School, Morrie joined the Army Air Guard where he served as an Electronic Technician installing classified radar in WWII bombers. After honorably discharging, Morrie began a career with the Federal Aviation Administration eventually retiring to Cheyenne, WY.

At the young age of 9, Morrie’s father taught him to project movies, instilling a love for the theater. As a young man he studied geology and learned about prospecting for oil. Over the course of his life, Morrie ran thousands of movies, toured hundreds of theaters nationwide, and struck oil many times.

Maurice married Edna Claire Kincaid Harris August 25, 1968 in Cheyenne, WY. They were blessed with 50 years of happiness. He passed peacefully in his sleep on October 24, 2018, nearly one month after Morrie and Edna renewed their wedding vows to celebrate their 50th anniversary. He was 95 years old.

Morrie is survived by his wife, Edna Claire Harris of Cheyenne, WY; daughter, Melinda Barreras of Cheyenne, WY; grandson Calvin Barreras, granddaughters Amice Everson and Victorria Barreras; nephews Virgil Aydelott, Robert Shultz, Richard Harris, nieces Marilyn Kronebeger, Judy Plumb, Dian Bauer, and Sue O’Bryan; great nephew David Harris, and great grandsons Noah Barreras, Collin Barreras, Osias Everson, Finnley Everson; and great granddaughters Claire Everson and Natalie Barreras, along with many great great nieces and nephews.

Maurice is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Bessie Harris, siblings Virgil Harris, Ida Shultz, Grace Gathercole, and Frances Aydelotte; and his children, Irene Harris and Walter Harris.

Celebration of life will occur at 10:00am on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Wiedersphan-Radomsky Chapel, 1900 E. 19th St., Cheyenne, WY 82001. Immediately following memorial will be a grave side internment at Grandview Cemetery, 1900 W. Mountain Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80521.

In lieu of cards and flowers, please consider donations to a “Harris Hilton” Greenhouse to be placed at their home at Aspen Wind Assisted Living Facility, 4010 N. College Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82001.
