Mary Sue "Suzy" Murphy

Mary Sue “SuZy” Murphy, 75, of Cheyenne, died on September 2, 2019 at the Davis Hospice Center.
She was born on March 14, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan.
SuZy graduated in education from the University of Colorado where she met her husband of 53 years, Randy. She taught 4th grade for two years before becoming a full time Mom. Following her sons swimming meets were a delight for her. She was serious about her Christianity where she led and attended several Bible Studies.
She was an avid needle pointer and authored seven bestselling needlepoint books titled SuZy's Stitches. She traveled the country signing books, speaking and teaching. She needlepointed one of the Wyoming ornaments for the White House Christmas Tree and attended the Christmas Party there hosted by First Lady Laura Bush.
SuZy was a Major League Baseball and College Sports enthusiast. She attended two World Series, two College National Championship games, and four NCAA Sweet 16 basketball games.
She had an outgoing and bold personality and would ask challenging questions during conversations and meetings flashing a sparkle in her big brown eyes.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Murphy; two sons, Patrick Murphy (JoLynn) of Cheyenne and Colin Murphy (Vicky) of Rapid City, South Dakota; a sister, Kitty Anne Moeller of Flint, Michigan; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
SuZy was preceded in death by her parents, Stewart and Geri Wilson.
Memorial services will be Monday, 3:30 p.m., at First Congregational Church.
