Mary Irene Salas (Lujan), 93 of Pueblo, Colorado, died peacefully at home on April 23, 2017 with her granddaughters, Carmela and Gabriella Salas at her bedside.
She was born on April 11, 1924 in Mora, New Mexico to Juan Baptista Lujan and Isidorita Mondragon Lujan. She was a private and simple woman, raised on a farm, and knew the meaning of hard work. Mary also had a very deep faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Teofilo Salas; sisters, Bersie Paiz and Alice Martinez; brother, John Lujan; twin grandsons, Ted and Roman Salas, and grandson Anthony Bustos.
She is survived by a son, James T. Salas (Yolanda Roman Salas); daughters, Sandra Recendez and Barbara Salas; siblings, Jose C. Lujan (special little brother) and Stella Valdez; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Vigil for the Deceased will be Sunday, 4:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
