Mary “Lucille” Lampman Giorgis, 97, of Cheyenne passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at Davis Hospice Center.
She was born November 17, 1916 in Greybull. Lucille married Dominick Giorgis on May 30, 1942 and they made their home in Rock Springs until 2007 when they moved to Cheyenne.
Lucille retired from Rock Springs School District #1 after teaching many years as a elementary classroom and music teacher. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Rock Springs where she served as the choir director, pianist, and organist. She was also the director of Sweet Adeline’s. Upon moving to Cheyenne, she attended First United Methodist Church.
Lucille was a gifted pianist and organist. She enjoyed playing for many years and until recently, played duets with her friend, Harriett Smith at Point Frontier. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and was a talented knitter. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling all over the world.
She is survived by her four sons, Richard (Karen) Giorgis of King George, Virginia, David (Rita) Giorgis of Durango, Colorado, Dwight (Kathy) Giorgis of Cheyenne, and Gary (Susan) Giorgis of St. George, Utah; five grandchildren, Shelley (Mike) Vandel of Fort Collins, Colorado, Ryan Giorgis of Canon City, Colorado, Daniel (Ryan) Giorgis of Richmond, Virginia, Scott (Tania) Giorgis of Avon, New York, and Craig (Karen) Giorgis of Quantico, Virginia and seven great-grandchildren.
With her friendly, generous nature and wonderful sense of humor, Lucille will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Memorial services will be Saturday, October 4th at 2:30 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with Rev. Elizabeth McVicker officiating.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
