Mary-Jane (Killing) Schultz was born 11/26/1964 in Denver Colorado to Jane and Walter Killing and passed away on March 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Mary-Jane (MJ) grew up in Winnemucca, Nevada and graduated from Albert Lowry High School. She studied at the University of Nevada Reno before moving to Cheyenne where she married Alan Schultz. Returning to college in Wyoming, she earned her master’s degree in social work in 2005. She worked for the State of Wyoming Department of Health, Behavioral Health Division as a Policy, and Planning Analyst where she managed the entire state network of mental health and substance abuse providers contract requirements. She later started her private therapy practice, A Joyful Life, specializing in trauma disorders with children, adolescents, and adults. An active member of the Cheyenne community, MJ volunteered at Meals on Wheels delivering meals to seniors. Combining her love for animals with her passion for helping people, she joined Volunteers with Therapy Dogs bringing comfort and healing to local hospitals and nursing homes. She and her loving partner, Billy Lippard, are members of the Moose Lodge in Cheyenne.
MJ was known for her effervescent spirit, positive attitude, sense of humor, love for animals, and compassion for others. Demonstrating strength and resilience throughout her life she navigated many obstacles while maintaining her passion for life, using her life experience to help and inspire others. Described by friends as loyal, trustworthy, confident, and fiercely protective of those she loved, she was a force! With an infectious laugh and a fearless quest for fun and adventure she will be deeply missed by friends, family, clients, and the community she loved to serve.
She is predeceased by her husband Alan Schultz and her parents. She is survived by her beloved partner Billy Lippard, her treasured dogs Riley and Gunner and her favorite sister Susanne Killing.
Memorial Service will take place in Cheyenne on Saturday May 11, 2024, at 2 pm at Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes 1900 E 19th Street. Reception to follow at the Moose Lodge, 1019 S. Greeley Highway
