Mary Veronica “Ronnie” Gerber
Ronnie Gerber, 74, of Cheyenne, WY, passed away on Saturday, May 4, surrounded by family and love.
Ronnie was born in Topeka, KS, on September 1, 1944. The family moved to Colorado when she was a toddler and settled in Denver. She went to high school at Mount St. Gertrude’s in Boulder, CO, graduating in 1962. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Ron Gerber, and they married on June 6, 1964. Their oldest son, Ron Jr., was born in 1965. Son, Larry, was born in 1966, and daughter, Joalyne, was born in 1969. They moved to Cheyenne in 1969.
Ronnie wore many hats throughout her life, but her favorite besides mother, grandmother, and wife, was working as the secretary of Anderson Elementary School when it first opened. She touched hundreds of lives during this career and made friends who would stay with her for a lifetime. Ronnie always called them her favorite people in the world. She graduated with her associates in accounting from LCCC in 1996 and went to work for the school district in the accounting office and retired from that position in 1998 due to health reasons.
Ronnie was loved by many and exceled at making people feel welcome and important. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ron; son Ron Jr. and his wife Jennifer; son Larry and his wife Amy; daughter Joalyne Steinhausen and her husband Jeremy; grandchildren Ted Gerber, Jace and Abby Steinhausen, Sean McColley, Ty and Nikole Steinhausen, Sydni Harris, Lawrence “Joey” Harris, and Dexter Steinhausen; great-grandchildren Adelynne and Jaymison Steinhausen; brothers Ted Snyder and Dan Deluca; and many loved uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Larry Snyder, and sister, Michaela DeLuca.
The family would like to thank the staff at Davis Hospice Center for their care and comfort during her final days.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will take place on Sunday, May 26, from 1-3pm at the Gathering Place of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
