Mary Agnes Barry, 89, of Cheyenne, passed away June 5th at Lifecare Center.
Born August 3, 1929, to Clarence M. and Mary Ellen (Barrett) Barry in Omaha, NE.
The family traveled with Lt. Barry thru Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi until he went overseas. They joined him in the Philippines after WWII. They returned to Texas and Mary graduated from All Saints Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Fort Worth. Her father had retired from the Army Air Corps and re-enlisted in the US Air Force at Warren AFB in Cheyenne.
Mary rejoined the family in Cheyenne and started as a technologist at Memorial Hospital and then transferred to the Radiology Office of Drs. Barber & Dixon. That radiology practice became Cheyenne Radiology Group. She became Chief Technologist and then Office Manager. She taught at the hospital-based School of Radiologic Technology and assisted with the transfer of that program to Laramie County Community College.
Mary was a founding member of the Wyoming Society of Radiologic Technologists and was honored as the 1st Life Member of that Society.
Mary retired from Cheyenne Radiology Group after 27 years. She took a short vacation and then went to work at the Medicare Office and worked until that office closed.
Mary was a 66 year member of the social sorority Beta Sigma Phi and was one of the first women in Wyoming to receive the International Award of Distinction from that organization.
She was a charter member of the Cheyenne Hot Air Balloon Club and enjoyed flying until health issues prevented participation on balloon events.
Mary was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and enjoyed participating in the study group of the Small Christian Community.
She is survived by nephews, Paul E. Barry and Robert A. Petricek and nieces, Virginia Kirkland, Susan Barry and Julie Calvert.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret Petricek Cisar and brother, Gerald M. Barry.
Vigil for the Deceased 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy 1:00 p.m., Monday, Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment of her urn to follow at Olivet Cemetery.
