Martha Jean Coonrod

Martha Jean Coonrod, 94, died on August 21, 2019 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. She was born in Huntington, Missouri October 28, 1924 to Josephine and Adolph Straub. Following her graduation from Hickey Business School in St. Louis, Missouri and a brief employment in St. Louis, she decided to move to Cheyenne to live with her Aunt and Uncle and pursue more challenging employment. She married Albert A. Coonrod at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Cheyenne on November 15, 1946. Albert preceded her in death on February 2, 2007.
Jean was employed by the Wyoming Supreme Court for 33years and retired from her position of clerk of court in 1987. Memberships over the years included charter member of Holy Trinity Church in Cheyenne, Holy Trinity Council of Catholic Women, Board member for Holy Trinity Council, Cheyenne Bishop’s Guild, The Questers (Bucking Horse Chapter), Scottish Society of SE Wyoming, Wyoming State Historical Society, Laramie County Historical Society and the Girl Scouts of America.
Jean is survived by her children: John A. Coonrod (Lisa) of California, daughter Ann C. Enlow (Cary) of Cheyenne, grandsons: Clayton Coonrod of California, John and Matthew Enlow of Cheyenne and Brother Richard Straub of Arizona.
Jean’s parents and sisters Rosemary Davison and Anna Sue Theising preceded her in death.
Funeral Liturgy will be held Thursday, August 29th at Holy Trinity Church at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Holy Trinity Youth Scholarship fund at 1808 Hot Springs Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001. Expressions of care can be sent to www.wrcfuneral.com .
